Client: Marks & Spencer Tamworth
Project: Remodel
WB Projects undertook the extension and refurbishment of M&S Tamworth. The store increased in size from 30,000 to 68,000 sq ft. by taking over the neighbouring former Woolworths store.
Designated by M&S as a prototype "Store of The Future", a number of new design and merchandising concepts were developed and incorporated into the scheme. It was due to this that a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness was required by the WB Projects team together with a collaborative relationship with the client, all underpinned by excellent communication.
A comprehensive approach to sustainability was taken, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality. By developing and using an innovative waste plan 96% of waste recycling was achieved.
The scope of work involved a complete conversion and fit out of the 68,000 sq ft sales floor, fully integrating the existing and new selling space. The whole of the backstage areas were expanded to include new offices, staff catering and enhanced stock handling facilities. Significant improvements were made to car parking, landscaping and external signage.
The complex project was completed successfully within the 26 week programme with particular recognition from the client on the professionalism of WB Projects.
