Client: Marks & Spencer Witney
Project: Development
In October 2009 WB Projects completed a 24 week fit out of a new store for Marks and Spencer at Witney in Oxfordshire.
The store consists of three floors, two for retail and one for offices, storage and goods handling and includes a new generation Café Revive and Customer Toilet Suite. With 45,000 sq ft of selling space and the latest retail schemes, M&S are confident that they have created a Small Town Store of which everyone can be proud.
The project included a significant number of environmental initiatives:
• Solar Powered heating of the water supplying the radiators and sinks
• Packaged boiler room
• Day light saving lighting controls
• Energy saving "run slow escalators" with reduced running speeds when not in use
• CO2 replacement of lesser "green gases" in refrigeration, incorporating a "sniffer" alarm system
• Central management of tenants waste requirements
• A 95% score in the use of FSC timber grown and harvested from a sustainable source
The whole development has opened with a look of maturity and vibrancy through the use of local or alternatively approved materials for the shop fronts; feature street lighting, decorative sculptures and a variety of fascia designs.
Once again the WB Projects team, working with the consultants and contractors has delivered a quality project on time, to budget and with particular emphasis given to achieving a defects-free environment whilst including full training for the staff at Practical Completion.
I also just wanted to put on record my thanks to both the WB team
led by Tom & Brian - and to Dave Calvert from EC Harris - who have
continued to support and look after us since PC. We have had no
maintenance issues at all since practical completion - and any other
minor issues have been picked up and resolved immediately - I
couldn't have asked for more support.
