Yaeger Rolfe, Project Manager, was awarded the David Tong Cup from the Worshipful company of constructors for achieving a first class honours in her Construction Management Degree.

The latter part of 2009 welcomed Brian O'Reilly to the team. Brian is an experienced Site Project Manager with a significant amount of experience in the industry. We wish him all the best in his role!

Following her previous two Bachelor degrees, Anthea McDermott, Trainee Quantity Surveyor, is now studying for her post graduate degree in Construction Commercial Management. We wish her the best of luck in her studies.

Our Green Agenda

We have made significant progress in two areas this year:

In April 2009 WB Projects became FSC certified and we strive to ensure that all timber used on our projects complies with this. Chain of Custody certification verifies that the timber in a product is from a certified forest, reclaimed or another controlled source. Purchasing FSC certified supplies gives the assurance that the products have the backing of a credible global scheme. Everyone in our organisation with purchasing responsibility is clear about which wood-derived products are acceptable.

We achieved full certification in December 2009. This was made possible by Anthea and Yaeger's hard work and determination.

ISO 14001 is the international standard which specifies a process for controlling and improving environmental performance and helps us to better manage our environmental risks onsite. By implementing Environmental Management Systems on each of our projects, we commit to achieving legal and regulatory compliance to regulators and Government.

Gaining ISO 14001 recognises and supports our ambitions to protect the environment, prevent pollution, and improve our environmental performance.

Retail Awards

We are pleased to announce that, Marks & Spencer Tamworth store, completed by WB Projects in 2008, was short listed in the 'Best Edge of Town/Out of Town Store' category at the Retail Week Interior awards, held at the Hilton Hotel, London in September.

The awards are attended by some of the biggest names in Store Design and Retail fit out; now celebrating its 12th year the Retail Awards stands as the ultimate recognition of merit of store design.

Although the store didn't win, it was a great evening, good to see many familiar faces and WB Projects are proud to have been part of the event.

We are delighted that this year we have successfully completed work for new clients, Evergreen Primary Care Centre (NHS) in Edmonton, GIVe (on behalf of Vizona) the new retail venture by George Davies, Oliver Sweeney and Ernest Grant. Please look in our projects section for more detail.
